hey dilli...sun zaraaaa..... meow 104.8 fm!

Welcome to meow 104.8 fm...India’s first just for woman radio station!

It started as a one man’s dream...Lived by many for almost 3 years before the dawn broke and it was time for another sunrise! It wasn’t long ago when talking was not a habit; but a therapy! It wasn’t easy for many to greet with a “Meow” rather than the usual “Hello” but they learnt!

I joined as an Assistant Producer and did Outdoor Broadcasts for the morning shows. I screened calls and decided who shall go on air and who should not! Traveled and explored Delhi like never before. Maybe many came and in 3 years saw attempts to package similar capsules but I saw and realized, if you not passionate about what you do, you better don’t do! Life in my case has certainly not been a bi*** ...I have invested not just time and patience but also something much above these called Loyalty! Shows happened some months later when my vigor to go on air was getting stronger. And thereby started another chapter to meow’s life called DIVYA’s MERI meow!!

Why would you be attached to your jeans, are you a coffee-holic?? Are you a gadget freak? Would you love somebody for looks or brains? Is there anything really called “Best friendship”????

Many such aspects of our daily life were brought up and many experiences shared! I will never forget my second show on “what do you think you were in your past life??” and replies came from “typewriters to thieves”! I will also never let go off my memory the edition on “your encounter with the supernatural!” and stories from people on ghosts, spirits and what not!!

God always has a plan in store and time took me to another level with a show called Meow Matinee- where I talked about 2 things that really keeps me happy- bollywood and cricket! The show also had topics like nostalgia and matinee club where we talked, discussed and felt nice! I made bonds on air and there were voices I waited to hear, maybe, just like some waited for me!

But like they say, all good things come to an end- the TALK too did! The words had to be cut down to be a market player. From an exclusive love, we were now moving to just another crush make over! Talk less, more music. For me, radio is a home. A dream i have lived and will do forever! But maybe what other radio people never had...and perhaps will never have...is a virgin experience of –TALK RADIO!!

So if next time somebody tells you “you talk just too much” ...Tell them ... “ it too needs an attitude!! “...for me that attitude is called MEOW!!

1411 + me!

Hunt for dhoni’s endorsed and aircel’s not so right count 1411 tigers began when i set for Ranthambore sanctuary, Rajasthan!

The journey for many wasnt just an attempt for tiger watch but an excuse from Delhi hustle bustle . I had left the city with a distant dream of being clicked with the tiger in the backdrop.and volla d dream did come true..though partially! What i came back with was a picture of me and Tiger’s favorite food Sambhar in the backdrop. J

I made friends pay extra for an additional safari the next morning of a failed afternoon. Zone 5 on day one showed us nothing more than rough patches and clothes hanging on tree trunks. Wondering what would humans be doing in a tiger dominant area??? I am clueless tooo but it irked me completely coz there was no sign of tiger’s pugmarks or tiger!:( The only source of hope in the sanctuary’s safari is the trained expression on the driver’s face when he signs of an “alarm call” by a koel or the langoors! The saving grace and saving memories from day 1 came from Indian Treepie, birds that exuded vibrancy with their colours and brought excitement on dead faces by hopping in our palms with hope of getting food.

The next morning promised a better start in ZONE3, the same zone that spotted a tiger day before! The zone with 3 lakes is tiger active and spotting zone. Early morning offered amazing views for my camera , the rising sun, bird over the lake, spotted owl, tiger eagle, wounded sambhar, amazing landscape and much more. The sleep deprived yet hopeful faces made good subjects too. The journey was in similar fashion through a maze of paths and stopping at points to click and shoot! Of course, 1411 of the them had resolved not to meet us and we gradually accepted it. The morning in the sanctuary still was a fresh episode in my life coz it gave me lots to click and register in mind. I realise the life of the 1411 isnt easy when we keep popping in their habitats time and again. Think how would one feel if neighbours keep coming to ones house everyday! Not so great na!!! J

Ranthambore sanctuary ,located in Sawai Madhopur has become a rich tourist spot. We thought of using the remaining day not by wasting on another 1411 luck by chance hunt, but on a drive to 30 kms away situated desert cum beach called amli! The real adventure was shortlived but made our weekend trip to sawai madhopur a success.

Hired 4 jeeps with professioanl desert drivers to sail us through to the point we heard much about. Reached at 5 in the evening to a place that didnt just look true. Lake infront of you, sun setting on one side, mud mountains like a dark wall shutting you from the world on other..... all that you see till the end of sight is sand..and impression of your steps that metaphorically state the long route to undertakeJ As the night beckons and bids adieu to the sun, we light a little bonfire away from the lake. They say, crocodiles in the lake hate being disturbed and so we make less noise and gather together . The girls get to a little makeshift tent with the only man taking care of visitors in the area to cook some food and serve in 2 hours ,made on clay pans and pots, bajara roti, garlic chutney and daal. The taste of any roadside dhaba or five star hotel can never match upto what we had there!! Hunger, darkness and a long train journey to Delhi waiting, we ate like never before!

The drive back to railway station was faster and spotless for the dark that encompassed us was unusually serene and quiet. This trip would have been a failed venture if trains would have been boarded successfully. But, God planned another “JAB WE MET” plot with us messing up the train timings and finally lazing around the platform trying to figure out how to reach back!! Some train chases and 20 people running after every train to jaipur and agra was a sight to laugh at!

1411 tigers didn’t show up...i count myself as one now taking the count to 1412!

babes and the hot wheels!

Gods best creation meets Man’s best creation!

Traveling is no good if its missing novelty..zing..or life!
If its not the place, it should be the company. If not the company, it could be the journey. If not the journey, the reason of the voyage.
There is a mysticism of sorts that pulls me back to Rajasthan. There is a hunger to see more of it. A need to connect with sand more deeply. A need to burn my skin more rashly in the hard sun. And for that i never let go a chance ....to visit my favorite place on planet....so to say!!
An All women car rally from New Delhi to Jaipur via Sariska, Bhaangarh and villages never heard of ... wasn't really an adventure, but a drive to realization... expectations and much more! Women can man oeuvre paths like cooking ingredients, get stuck on dirt tracks and move ahead with some illogical trials and conquer the art of “male dominated”sport- Car Rally!

http://www.sariskatigerheaven.com/gif%27s/routemap_landing.gif

The rally showed how getting off the highway can be more challenging and less predictable! Just like life...where the path seen and path followed are same ..yet very different! The journey was tireless and mood full of vigor and celebrations! Conversations quite fruitful and enriching!Eavesdropping is not a bad idea with lots of women around you .. soon to turn 47 , Natasha , mother of two tries rediscovering her life with a new fervor! Accompanied by her friend cum navigator, the duo could give any young lady a run for their money- for the looks they are blessed with and the attitude they have carved! The youngest in group is a 20 year old who after a little stuck up in sand didn't give up!! Supported by Mom and Dad in the rally, she drove and won –if not the prize- many hearts!!

I just realized the accelerator is not the one you press with your right foot... its the action you take to explore more.... the break is not pressed when the speed breaker comes..but when an opportunity knocks!
